Meet Dr. Lackey

In 1988 Dr. Amy Lackey graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry School and then completed her residency at The Eye Institute, in Philadelphia, with an emphasis in ocular disease. Dr. Lackey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She has practiced in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area for over 20 years. Dr. Lackey specializes in difficult contact lens fits including bifocals, astigmatism, keratoconus, scleral lenses, and gas permeable lenses. She also manages LASIK, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Lackey’s caring demeanor and knowledge allows her to provide quality care for children as well as adult patients.

She is an avid runner and enjoys competing in both trail and road races. She has completed multiple marathons and a 50k trail race. Dr. Lackey believes a healthy lifestyle is important and translates to excellent overall and ocular health. She is married and has two daughters. She teaches a special education Sunday School class and takes pleasure in outdoor activities with her family and friends.

Meet Dr. Bearer

Dr. Bearer brings to Chattanooga a unique and extensive background in Optometry. She is one of the few residency-trained optometrists in specialty contact lenses and pre-and post-operative refractive surgery.

Hailing from Amherst, Massachusetts, Dr. Bearer is a 2003 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Like Dr. Lackey, her residency training was completed at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. The Eye Institute is one of the most highly recognized and well-respected optometric training facilities in the world. Following Dr. Bearer’s residency she accepted a position in a prominent practice in Grand Blanc, Michigan where she practiced for nearly 20 years.
In 2022 Dr. Bearer relocated to the Chattanooga area with her husband and two children. She is a dedicated runner competing in NCAA Division I cross country and track for Syracuse University. More recently, she has turned her focus to marathons. The highlight is qualifying for and completing the 2021 Boston Marathon. She and her family enjoy traveling, swimming, and reading together.
